You can reach the waterfall via many different trails from Szklarska Poręba. There are several parking lots along the Czech Road. If you have arrived from a different town than Szklarska Poręba, you can park at 🅿️(50.8226942, 15.4984461 , https://maps.app.goo.gl/XypSGZcUqnKBJmPv5) hen the round trip is about 2.2 km, which should take less than 1 hour (unmarked trail, turn right onto the 🔴red trail) or at the second parking lot 🅿️(50.8248687, 15.5070576 , https://maps.app.goo.gl/mi2MryDm8ggW8Vn56) wwhere the route is a bit longer – 2.6 km (stay on the 🔴red trail the entire time). Parking prices start at 20 PLN, while full-day parking is around 30-35 PLN (prices as of August 2024).
We parked the car on Mickiewicz Street, where there was no parking restriction that day.
The tourist map leads through an unmarked but clearly visible path located by Mickiewicz Street. We turn left onto it to avoid going to the Czech Road (Czeska Szosa) and unnecessarily adding kilometers to our hike – after all, by the end of the day, every kilometer is felt in the legs! 🥾
We walk through the trees for about 300 meters before reaching a fork, where we turn right and soon join the marked 🔴red trail. The number of tourists noticeably increases with every step.
After less than 20 minutes, we arrive at Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem. We continue straight, staying on the 🔴red trail. In August 2024, from Rozdroże to almost the waterfall, there is surface renovation work, as you can see in the photo below. Therefore, tourists are directed to the right side through the trees and roots. The trail is not difficult, but this section has the steepest incline of the entire route. The slope is mostly 12%, reaching 18% at the end, but it lasts for about 600 meters. You might get a little winded at the top, but the photos and memories will definitely be worth it! 😊
After reaching the top, we see a signpost to the waterfall on the left. Now, there are two options: you can either view the waterfall from above at a viewpoint (a free option) or see the waterfall from below (a paid option). We chose the second option. We queued up to buy tickets, waiting a good 20 minutes due to the high demand and the fact that access to the waterfall is only allowed with a protective helmet, which is limited in quantity. In our opinion, this is a good thing because it allows us to take beautiful photos and enjoy the waterfall’s beauty without a crowd. 🙂 After our wait, we grab our helmets and head down the metal stairs, then walk along the footbridge toward the waterfall with our phones ready for incredible shots. 📷
We couldn’t resist taking some photos from the “viewpoint” as well.
Is it worth going down and paying? In our opinion, yes – the scale of the waterfall looks completely different from below. 🙂
There are a few peaks from the Crown of Polish Mountains nearby, so if it’s not too late, it's worth heading to Skopiec, Skalnik or exploring other attractions in Szklarska Poręba. 👍
